“I assure you that they have never heard music like this in Paris or Vienna.”
Joseph Haydn
Could anyone have imagined that the 21st century would preside over a renaissance of the forgotten musical treasures of the 18th?
The richly expressive and humorous music Haydn wrote for this azione teatrale in due parte was inspired by the Baroque-era motif of the desert island. With the award-winning conductor George Petrou on the podium, the authentic but utterly contemporary sound of the Camerata’s period instruments and the talents of four internationally-renowned Greek soloists, this production promises to transport us to the Desert Island mariners call “Peiraios 260”.
